Ken Al-Imam


Ken Al-Imam is the Chief Financial Officer/City Treasurer of the City. As such, Ken serves as the department head for the City's Finance Department. Ken is responsible for overseeing the department and the various financial services that the Finance Department provides to the City and to the City's residents and businesses.

Ken has a bachelor degree in business administration from California State University, Fullerton and is also a CPA (Certified Public Accountant). For over 25 years, Ken has audited the financial records of local governments. His clients included the cities of Newport Beach, Carlsbad, Escondido, Mission Viejo, Costa Mesa, Orange, Torrance, Burbank, and Riverside.

He is known state-wide as an advisor regarding financial reporting matters and for his long-time service on the California Committee on Municipal Accounting (CCMA). CCMA is a joint committee comprised of members of the League of California Cities and the California Society of CPAs. Its purpose is to provide California-specific financial reporting advice to California cities. For the past 15 years, Ken has authored most of the white papers that form the primary work product of CCMA. Ken began work with the City of San Juan Capistrano in February of 2016 and in June 2016 was made the City's Chief Financial Officer/City Treasurer.
