The City has released the draft environmental impact report (EIR) for the City’s skatepark and trail project for the 45-day public review and comment period. The skatepark is proposed to be located at the southwest corner of the City-owned Kinoshita Farm property (operated by The Ecology Center and adjacent to the Sports Park) and would include a 20,000 square foot all-wheel skatepark, playground structure, restroom building, shaded seating areas and landscaping. In addition, the proposed project would include a new multi-use public trail along Via Positiva and the western edge of the Kinoshita Farm property that would connect to the new skatepark and Camino Del Avion. The environmental document public review and comment period extends from August 17 through October 2, 2023. To access the document, please visit the City’s website. Following the public review period, Planning Commission and City Council public hearings to consider the proposed project are anticipated to occur later this year. Construction is anticipated to begin in Spring 2024 with the skatepark open to the public in Summer 2024.
