Weed Abatement

The City Municipal Code, Section 6-7.01, requires that the abatement of weeds and thistle, and the removal of garbage, refuse, and dirt throughout the City be performed annually to assist in reducing risks associated with fire and health hazards. City staff administers the annual Weed Abatement Program, in which property owners are notified to remove weeds, trash and other material that constitutes a fire hazard. If a property owner fails to respond, the City performs the weed abatement through a private contractor and assesses the property owner for the costs incurred on their property tax bill.
