Elevation Certificate

If your home or business is in a high-risk flood area, and you are required to purchase flood insurance, your insurance agent will likely request an Elevation Certificate to determine your flood insurance premium. An Elevation Certificate (EC) is an important tool that documents your building's elevation. Your agent will use the EC to compare your building's elevation to the Base Flood Elevation shown on a special map, called the FIRM, used to determine the flood zone you are located in and the cost to cover your flood risk policy. See the List of the Elevations on File (PDF) with the San Juan Capistrano Public Works Department.
