Planning Commission Vacancy - Applications Accepted
Applications are now being accepted from residents of the City of San Juan Capistrano to fill one (1) vacancy on the City Council appointed Planning Commission. The appointee will serve a term through March 31, 2019.
The appointee must be a register voter in the City of San Juan Capistrano. The appointee is also required by State Law to file Fair Political Practices Commission Conflict of Interest Statements upon appointment, annually, and upon leaving office.
The Planning Commission consists of five (5) members who are residents in the City of San Juan Capistrano. Duties of the Planning Commission include: To study and make recommendations to the City Council on amendments to the City’s General Plan; to develop and make recommendations to the City Council on specific plans designed to implement portions of the City’s General Plan; to review the City’s Capital Improvement Program for consistency with the City’s General Plan and forward recommendations to the City Council; to make recommendations to the City Council to effectuate changes to the land use provisions set forth in Title 9 of this Code, consistent with the provisions of the General Plan; to approve, deny, or approve with modifications or conditions, development proposals, or parts thereof, in accordance with the land use provisions set forth in Title 9; and review and make determinations regarding development applicant’s project design plans for compliance with the goals and policies of the City’s General Plan Community Design Element and adopted architectural design guidelines and other policies regarding the design of projects that are processed in accordance with Title 9, Chapter 2, Article 2, Section 9-2.313; to recommend to the City Council amendments to the Circulation Element of the General Plan and associated implementation measures; to study and make recommendations to the City Council on proposed regional and State planning programs that are transportation-related, including proposed regulations that could affect the City; to review and make recommendations to the City Council on major Capital Improvement projects that are designed to implement a multimodal transportation system; to study and make determinations and recommendations to the City Council regarding site development plans and tentative maps with regard to impacts to the City’s circulation system; to study and make recommendations to the City Council on matters related to public transportation, traffic regulations and standards for parking, vehicular and public safety; and undertake such other duties as may be assigned by the City Council.
Application forms are available through the City’s web site at www.sanjuancapistrano.org and at the Office of the City Clerk, 32400 Paseo Adelanto, San Juan Capistrano. Applications, including a Supplemental Questionnaire, will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 1, 2017, at the Office of the City Clerk. The applications will be reviewed by the City Council, with interviews conducted at an open session meeting.
