As part of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s “Stay Safe OC” campaign and National Preparedness Month, join us for a disaster preparedness presentation on September 23 from 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the City Council Chamber located at City Hall (32400 Paseo Adelanto). Participants will receive a presentation from Dr. Kenneth Cheng, a member of the OCSD Search and Rescue Team, highlighting what to expect during a major disaster and how to prepare for this inevitable event. Draft Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Available for Public Review

The City is currently in the process of revising its Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP). The LHMP provides elected officials, public safety and City staff, and members of the public with information regarding the threats from natural and human-caused hazards in our community. The plan will also recommend specific actions to proactively mitigate these threats before disasters occur. Multi-Modal Parking Lot Entrance Detour

To accommodate construction activity currently underway at the Capistrano Plaza, located at the northwest corner of Camino Capistrano and Verdugo Street, the east entrance to the City's Multi-modal parking lot will be temporarily closed for approximately two to three weeks. The west entrance to the parking lot, located between Rancho Capistrano Winery and Trevor's at the Tracks, has been converted to safely accommodate two-way traffic. Adjacent business owners have been notified of the temporary closure, and signage and traffic control devices are in place to assist motorists.

The City of San Juan Capistrano is participating in the annual creek clean-up event for San Juan Creek and Arroyo Trabuco Creek on Saturday, September 21. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. and the clean-up will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Parking for the event will be available at City Hall and lunch will be provided to volunteers. Storm Preparedness - Sandbags Available at City Hall

As a courtesy to residents, the City provides empty sandbags free-of-charge for flood control purposes. San Juan Capistrano residents can pick up ten empty sandbags at City Hall, located at 32400 Paseo Adelanto, during regular business hours. Additionally, the Orange County Fire Authority provides empty sandbags at Fire Station 7, located at 31865 Del Obispo Street. Residents can fill their own bags using the sand pile located in the Library parking lot at 31495 El Camino Real or residents can purchase filled sandbags at a variety of suppliers.
