AlertOC Emergency Notification System Test - October 3, 2018

As you may already be aware, today the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA). The WEA portion of the test commences at 11:18 a.m. and the EAS portion follows at 11:20 a.m. The test will assess the operational readiness of the infrastructure for distribution of a national message and determine whether technological improvements are needed.  Your cell phones should receive a national alert.

In conjunction with the Nationwide test, you may receive an additional test call today from Alert OC in conjunction with the Nationwide test (if you have signed up to receive Orange County Alert OC emergency notifications - CLICK HERE to sign up).  This test of Orange County’s Regional Emergency Notification System will test AlertOC’s capability, capacity, and effectiveness to deliver emergency notifications to the public during times of a major disaster.  Feel free to contact Lynn Mata, San Juan Capistrano Emergency Manager at 949-443-6304 or lmata@sanjuancapistrano.org if you have any questions. Thank you.
